Annual Association Meeting to Focus on Special Dangers Associated with RU486

Published on

The Association for Interdisciplinary Research in Values and Social Change, established in 1985, is an association of pro-life professionals from clinical and academic areas. Its growing membership includes counselors, therapists, professors, psychologists, psychiatrists, researchers, and lawyers. The Association’s two primary goals are (1) to provide opportunities for increased professional activity through mutual sharing of knowledge and experience between and among these professions, and (2) to provide a venue for the dissemination of research to the pro-life community.

To share research and insights with the pro-life community, an annual presentation of research papers is held immediately preceding the National Right to Life Committee convention. This year’s program will be held on Wednesday, June 22 at the NRLC Convention Hotel in Jacksonville, Florida at 8:00 p.m.

The program this year is focused on the topic of chemical abortions using RU-486.  The speakers will look at the special dangers posed by this type of abortion. This is especially important because the abortion industry has been working to increase the use of chemical abortion procedures in this country and abroad.  Speakers include:

Randall K. O’Bannon, Ph.D., Director of Education and Research, National Right to Life Committee,  “The Introduction and Expansion of Mifepristone (RU-486) in the United States.”

Priscilla Coleman, Ph.D., Professor, Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio,  “Chemical Abortion:  Psychological Risks to Women.”

Donna Harrison, M.D., Director of Research and Public Policy, American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists,  “Maternal Mortality: A Key Battle.”

Martha Shuping, M.D., Psychiatrist, Author and Continuing Education Instructor on Women’s Mental Health and Reproductive Issues,  “Women’s Mental Health After Abortion”

The CD for the program will be available for purchase from the NRLC Convention Office.  The meeting is free and open to the public.  It is not necessary to register for the Convention to attend.  Refreshments will be served at 10 p.m. after the presentations have concluded.

The upcoming annual association meeting is set to tackle a critical and pressing issue: the special dangers associated with RU486, commonly known as the abortion pill. Hosted by [Association Name], this gathering brings together experts, activists, and concerned individuals to shed light on the risks and consequences surrounding the use of RU486.

RU486, a medication used for medical abortion, has stirred significant controversy and debate since its introduction. While proponents argue that it offers women a safe and non-invasive alternative to surgical abortion, critics point to the potential health risks and ethical concerns associated with its use.

At the forefront of the discussion will be the unique dangers posed by RU486, including its potential to cause severe complications such as excessive bleeding, infection, and incomplete abortion. Experts will present the latest research and data on the safety and efficacy of RU486, offering valuable insights into its impact on women’s health and well-being.

Moreover, the meeting will address broader issues related to access, regulation, and informed consent surrounding RU486. Participants will explore the challenges of ensuring that women have access to accurate information about the risks and benefits of medical abortion and that they are fully informed when making decisions about their reproductive health.

In addition to medical considerations, the meeting will also examine the ethical and moral dimensions of RU486, considering its implications for the sanctity of human life and the dignity of the unborn. Speakers will offer perspectives from various religious, philosophical, and cultural traditions, fostering a rich and nuanced dialogue on this complex issue.

By shining a spotlight on the special dangers associated with RU486, the annual association meeting seeks to empower individuals and communities to make informed choices about reproductive health and to advocate for policies that prioritize the safety and well-being of women. It is an opportunity to deepen understanding, foster collaboration, and ultimately work towards a society where every life is valued and protected.
