SMALL PRO-ABORTION CONTINGENT RALLIES IN WASHINGTON, DC

Published on

A thousand or so pro-abortion supporters gathered in front of a small stage today with the United States Capitol as the always impressive backdrop.  The small crowd consisted of mostly white, thirty-somethings wearing the pink Planned Parenthood t-shirts that had been given away on site just before the “Stand Up for Women’s Health” rally began.

The event had been advertised on the Facebook pages of Planned Parenthood, NARAL, the ACLU, and many others of the pro-abortion groups’ pages for weeks. Attendees were promised to see the top leadership of their movement.  They were all there. The heavyweights included Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards and Nancy Keenan, who heads NARAL.

Apparently unaware of last year’s election results, Ms. Keenan stated that, “John Boehner may have an agenda, but he does not have a mandate from Americans across this country.” Originality is not the pro-abortionist’s strong suit, so for her part Ms. Richards settled on the old pro-abortion go-to-line stating, “We will never go back.”

The speakers gave short and passionate speeches.  “Stop the War on Women” was the mantra of the day, and it was carried by pro-abortion Senators Charles Schumer (D-NY), Barbara Boxer (D-Ca.), Patty Murray (D-Wa.), and Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).

Sen. Schumer was handed a box of petitions said to contain 80,000 pro-abortion names from his home state of New York.  After he clumsily pretended to be weighed down with by the box, he railed against what he described as the “dangerously ideological cuts to Planned Parenthood that passed the House,” which “will never, never, never ever pass the Senate.”

Sen. Boxer thanked the opposition because as she claimed, “The opposition doesn’t know that they just woke a sleeping giant.”  Really? What giant is she referring to?  The one who performs 1.2 million abortions a year?  Or is she talking about the sleeping giant who spent tens of millions of dollars promoting (and losing) pro-abortion candidates during the 2010 midterm elections?

The rally then segued to the “stars,” including long-time abortion advocate Amy Madigan and her husband Ed Harris of “Apollo 13” fame.

Mr. Harris proclaimed how proud he was to be a part of the “pro-choice community.” He chastised politicians for waging the [you guessed it] on-going “war on women.” He noted that his children and “your children will remember who stood up for women and who didn’t when the time comes to reevaluate our law makers.”

It would appear Mr. Harris was on-set during the last midterms and missed part or all of the election returns.

But the fact is there has been a war waged on women since 1973, only the army is composed of the soldiers of the multibillion dollar abortion industry itself.  The horror stories reported by a Grand Jury about Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell’s practice is the stuff of science fiction movies.

There is no apparent concern from those who most greatly profit from abortion about the connection between abortion and breast cancer.  Where is the outrage in response to the deaths of young women from RU486?

The small group of radical pro-abortion zealots heard what they came to hear today.  Unfortunately, they refuse to see the reality of the harm abortion does to women, and they refuse to see that impassioned speech was an exercise in pro-abortion banality.
