Nate and Lisa Herr on Why They Are Voting No on Ohio’s “Issue 1”

Published on

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Ohio Right to Life has released the story of Nate and Lisa Herr, an Ohio couple who chose to continue the pregnancy of their son, Danny, despite the fatal prenatal diagnosis.

The date of 7 November is fast approaching, and Planned Parenthood and the ACLU are engaged in extensive efforts to facilitate the passage of Issue 1, which would legalise abortion up to the point of birth in Ohio. Should Issue 1 be enacted, it will also remove the right of parents to be informed of their underage child’s intention to undergo an abortion or a sex change operation.

Despite the pessimistic prognosis from medical professionals, Daniel survived for 22 hours after birth. He was able to meet his parents and five older siblings.

“The narrative of Nate and Lisa offers a perspective that is frequently overlooked,” stated Peter Range, CEO of Ohio Right to Life. Even in circumstances where a child might not survive birth or for a considerable period after being born, their life still holds infinite value. It is therefore evident that those children are worthy of our love. Ohio must be a state that recognizes and protects life. It is our recommendation that every Ohioan vote against Issue 1 in order to protect the lives of unborn children, particularly those in the third trimester of pregnancy, which would be at risk if Issue 1 were to be passed.
