With the fall comes a particular beauty to the Commonwealth I call home. Pennsylvania becomes awash in golden and crimson, as leaves turn color in a magnificent technicolor display.
It is also a golden time because of our annual Celebrate Life Banquet, which benefits the life-saving, life-changing work of the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation Education Fund.
This year’s highly-anticipated event features cable news host Raymond Arroyo, who has been covering the pro-life issue for years. He brings an insight and intelligence to his reporting that helps to illuminate the human rights issue of our time.
But perhaps the greatest reason to attend the banquet is the chance to network with other advocates for life. It is a wonderful opportunity for camaraderie and esprit de corps, a venue for exchanging ideas and goals for a pro-life future.
These are challenging times for the pro-life cause in Pennsylvania. Pro-abortion Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro has threatened to eliminate the successful Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services program, administered by Real Alternatives. For decades, the program has been serving women and their families, providing the comprehensive counseling and support needed to empower women to make life-affirming decisions.
And yet, the Governor is turning his back on the more than 350,000 women who have been helped by the program, which has become a model for the rest of the nation.
