How a baby’s presence can dramatically alter the course of history for the better

Published on

The significance of a single life, particularly that of a child, in effecting global change cannot be overstated.

I was prompted to reflect on this fundamental insight while viewing an interview on a cable news program.

The interviewee was a man who had previously served a prison sentence and subsequently reformed his life. He was now engaged in the work of assisting other men who were incarcerated in finding renewed hope and meaning.

The man, who had been socialised in a context characterised by gang culture, attributed his positive transformation to his daughter. Upon holding her in his arms, he experienced a profound transformation, which ultimately led to his redemption.

This is an illustrative example of how the presence of a baby can have a profound and positive impact on the course of history. The presence of a child compels us to summon the more benevolent aspects of our nature, prompting us to respond to the world with compassion and love.

Even those who have committed heinous crimes can perceive the divine spark in their child’s eyes.

It is imperative that we intensify our efforts to safeguard the most vulnerable members of our society, those who impart invaluable lessons that facilitate our personal growth and development.

Every life is of intrinsic value and worth in the cosmic scheme of things. The termination of a preborn child’s life through abortion results in the absence of a valuable and precious entity from the universe.

The aforementioned loss has the effect of impoverishing us all.
