It was one of those hashtags I will never forget.
As I was scrolling through my Twitter feed, I saw that the abortion industry had tweeted #AbortionAlwaysWins .
In the tradition of the “Shout Your Abortion” campaign, this hashtag’s boast, I believe, masks a profound amount of pain.
It is another attempt at rationalization of an inherently irrational act. Abortion is the taking of an innocent, unrepeatable human life in a mother’s womb. It is not justice, independence, or empowerment. It is the ultimate form of bullying and exploitation. There is no denying the violence of the act, nor the fact that it stops a beating heart and can scar a grieving mother for life.
#AbortionAlwaysWins is just one more lie from an industry that makes its money from trauma and pain. Add to the long list of lies “abortion is no different than getting a tooth pulled”…the unborn child is “just a blob of tissue”…and “abortion is health care.”
The loss of a child is devastating—ask the many, many mothers who say they regret their abortions. Their emotional pain is intense and their suffering is all too real.
The abortion industry is trying to demoralize pro-life advocates with such slogans as “AbortionAlwaysWins.” The fact of the matter is that, with abortion, there are no winners. Everyone loses. A child loses her life…a parent loses hope…a grandmother loses her progeny. The community and the country at large lose out on the potential and promise of a human being of unlimited possibilities.
And so pro-life advocates fearlessly and faithfully move forward. For we know the truth—that, in the end, #LifeWins!
