Ask yourself who said this: “If we’ve learned anything from the first 11 days of the Trump administration, it’s that President Donald Trump intends to govern exactly as he promised during his campaign.”
If you said Ilyse Hogue, President, NARAL Pro-Choice America, you win the prize.
Hogue added, “So given his vow to appoint anti-choice Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe v. Wade, we should expect him to deliver on that when he announces his pick at 8 p.m. tonight.”
Yes, you would!
But having begun saying that President Trump is upholding the promises he made as candidate Trump, Hogue then writes that Democrats should extract a promise from whomever President Trump nominates tonight that he or she will leave Roe v. Wade unscathed–exactly the opposite of what President Trump campaigned on.
Hogue tells her supporters, “Ask your senator to ensure that Trump’s Supreme Court nominee upholds the Constitution [Roe v. Wade], and if not, demand they commit to blocking the nominee by whatever means [aka a filibuster].”
As we wrote yesterday, President Trump will announce his choice at 8:00 tonight.
