Tell PA Gov. Shapiro not to cancel Real Alternatives’ contract

Pregnant women facing challenges may feel hopeless. That’s why Pennsylvania’s Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services program, administered by Real Alternatives, is so important.

In the 1990s, Democratic Governor Robert Casey Sr. funded a first-of-its-kind program. Over the years, the program has been supported by notable public servants like former Congressman Joe Pitts and former state Representative Katie True.

However, the program is now facing an existential threat from the announcement by Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro that he plans to cancel Real Alternatives’ contract at the end of the year. This would have a profoundly detrimental impact on pregnant women throughout the Commonwealth who have come to depend on the program and the life-changing, life-affirming services it provides.

The program offers comprehensive counseling and support to pregnant women up to a year after the birth of their babies. The program offers a comprehensive range of services, including mentoring, maternity clothes, parenting classes, and partnerships with prenatal care programs. These services are provided to women at a particularly vulnerable time in their lives.

To convey an urgent message to Pennsylvania lawmakers to protect the program and pregnant women from harm, please visit https://oneclickpolitics.global.ssl.fastly.net/promo/4tc.

The Pennsylvania Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services program is of vital importance for the well-being of women across this great Commonwealth. It is incumbent upon us to advocate for the program, which is performing remarkable work on a daily basis.
