In response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to legalize abortion, millions of Americans began working to protect innocent human lives. Over the years, these efforts have saved millions of lives.
“Roe v. Wade has led to the horrifying destruction of over 63 million precious unborn children,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Yet, every day, faithful pro-lifers give of their time, energy, and finances to help women facing an unplanned pregnancy. Millions of lives have been saved from the tragedy of abortion because pro-lifers give so freely and without hesitation.”
The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) is the nation’s largest and oldest pro-life organization. Over the past 49 years, it has played a pivotal role in advocating for and passing pro-life legislation at both the state and federal levels. With affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters nationwide, NRLC is the only national pro-life group with a presence in every U.S. jurisdiction.
On December 1, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral argument in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. This case concerns Mississippi’s “Gestational Age Act,” which bans abortions after 15 weeks of gestation. The Court’s decision this year will address the question of whether a state has a compelling interest in protecting the right to life prior to viability.
“Regardless of the outcome in Dobbs, National Right to Life and our state affiliates will continue our work on the local, state, and federal levels to protect unborn babies and their mothers,” said Tobias. “National Right to Life will continue to lead the way through model state laws, federal legislation, and educational efforts.”
National Right to Life (NRLC) is recognized as the preeminent organization within the pro-life movement. Its state affiliates have played a pivotal role in advancing the protection of all innocent human life. They have been instrumental in enacting legislation at the state and federal levels that challenges current jurisprudence and educates Americans about the extremism of current abortion law.
