ST. PAUL — Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) will hold the 2024 MCCL March for Life at the State Capitol Mall beginning at 12:00 noon on Monday, Jan. 22. A brief program will follow at 12:30 on the Capitol steps and will feature a display of 12,000 life-size models of unborn children, each baby representing one life lost to abortion in Minnesota in 2022. MCCL will also introduce a new outreach arm, the Center for a Pro-Life Minnesota, during the event.
Many state lawmakers and at least one member of Congress are expected to attend. Media kits will be available; a press release will be issued shortly afterward.
This year’s March for Life comes after the Minnesota legislature in 2023 established abortion-up-to-birth in state law and repealed numerous longstanding abortion-related policies, including the Woman’s Right to Know informed consent law, the Positive Alternatives program supporting pregnant women, and the law that ensured lifesaving care for born-alive infants.
The number of abortions in Minnesota increased by 20 percent in 2022, and early estimates indicate an even larger increase in 2023. Some lawmakers are now expected to try to enshrine unlimited abortion in the state Constitution.
Jan. 22 marks the 51st anniversary of the legalization of abortion. The MCCL March for Life has been held each year since.
