Week 21: This week, the baby can accomplish many things. REM (rapid eye movement) begins around this time. Eyebrows and eyelids are now formed and it’s possible for the baby to blink. He/she even has taste buds and can taste various flavors, depending on what’s entering the amniotic fluid and what the mother is eating.
The baby starts to make its first poop, called meconium, that won’t come out until after birth. Every baby develops a fine mustache around this time, and later this hair will spread over the rest of the body. The baby is starting to gain some weight too, and now weighs more than the placenta.
Please share with your friends to help inform the public just how beautiful life is (especially pregnant friends who would like to know about the development of their baby!).
