By Carol Tobias, President, National Right to Life
The holiday season is my favorite time of year. From the religious services to the decorations to the music to the classic films, everything during this time helps us prepare for the birth of Christ.
Our holiday celebrations — from Thanksgiving feast preparations through the joy of Christmas — are a daily reminder about the value and dignity of life. Each day of the holiday season reminds us that every one of us makes a difference in the lives of those around us. It reminds us that each life really matters.
And yet, too many in our society still fail to take it to heart. Our society still sees God’s precious gift of life as something that can be tossed aside and thrown away.
I’m reminded that thousands of unborn babies didn’t get a chance to make a difference in the lives of those around them because of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in 1973 that established a terrible legacy in our nation that said it was okay to kill those babies. And our society let it happen for decades.
As I pause and reflect on that tragic reality, I’m reminded that despite the many challenges we’ve faced in this battle to protect His most precious children, we are not alone. We have you, and I want to thank you for the joy you’ve brought into my life through your support of National Right to Life and our efforts.
Your friendship and support of our mutual cause is one of the most precious gifts that God has graciously bestowed upon National Right to Life and the most vulnerable members of our human family.
It is no exaggeration to say that you, and all our dedicated National Right to Life members, have been responsible for the significant victories we have celebrated.
Paramount among those victories last year was the greatest of them all: the U.S. Supreme Court’s June decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that finally righted a terrible wrong and ended Roe v. Wade’s deadly legacy in our nation. The decision paved the way for state legislatures to enact laws restoring legal protection to unborn children.
You helped make that happen.
Before the Dobbs decision, National Right to Life released model legislation that would provide maximum protection for mothers and their unborn children. Almost immediately after the Court’s decision, our state affiliates in states like South Carolina, Indiana, and West Virginia began working to advance legislation.
In other states, pro-life laws advanced by our state affiliates took effect, essentially ending abortion in those states. Across the country, thousands of unborn children were and are being saved because of these laws.
You helped make that happen.
Pro-abortion extremists and the abortion industry went into 2022 expecting their allies in the White House and Congress to pass a radical abortion-expanding agenda. Undeterred by the Dobbs decision, they doubled down on their attempts to pass sweeping national legislation to invalidate virtually every pro-life law across the country and enshrine abortion for any reason in our nation’s laws.
But they didn’t anticipate the groundswell of pro-life backlash and the determination of pro-life lawmakers to push back against their deadly laundry list of pro-abortion policies.
Those are just a handful of the victories we experienced in 2022.
With every victory and bit of adversity—we take another step forward, reminding our society about the humanity of the unborn child. We take one more step forward in winning the cultural battle that will allow us to restore full legal protection to God’s most defenseless children.
While there have been many new pro-life victories over the last year, the road ahead will be a tough one heading into a presidential year where the democrats will be in full-assault mode (coming off their recent victories in Ohio, Virginia and Kentucky).
We know there is still so much to be done.
And National Right to Life is leading the charge.
National Right to Life is only as strong as its supporters. When our advocates are successful on Capitol Hill, it’s because the members of Congress know they are there representing you.
When our Education and Research department creates a new factsheet or brochure or publishes new research about life issues, or writes a new analysis about Planned Parenthood, it does so for you — so that you have the tools necessary to advance the cause in your own community.
Since 1968, National Right to Life has been an umbrella — a clearinghouse for information. We exist to provide support and resources to our state affiliates, local chapters, and grassroots activists, while at the same time serving as their representative in Washington. Unlike most other organizations in Washington, which are top-down operations, our leadership and strength start at the local level.
America, more than at any other time in our history, is rethinking the morality of abortion. Babies are still in danger, and we need to continue building on our efforts together.
Your tax-deductible contribution will allow us to be even more vigilant in standing up and protecting the innocent at a time when our responsibilities are increasing, and our resources are being stretched to the absolute limit.
If you are able, I would ask that you prayerfully consider making a tax-deductible contribution of $35, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, $5,000, or any other amount so that we can save even more unborn babies.
Click here to make your tax-deductible contribution to the National Right to Life Educational Foundation. Every dollar received will be used as efficiently and effectively as possible as we seek to educate America about the value and dignity of every human life.
Donations can also be made through gifts of stock, which can have additional tax benefits for some. We also receive donations of real estate, or gifts of annuities or remainder trusts. Every gift makes a difference.
There is no greater enemy to our children, their mothers, and our nation than abortion. Abortion has left a terrible legacy of shattered lives. And if our pro-life message isn’t available when and where it is needed, more babies will die.
We also know that our enemies have endless coffers to peddle their false and deadly message to the American public. This creates an urgency which keeps us working harder, praying harder, and wanting to give even more.
Please consider a generous donation to the National Right to Life Educational Foundation today. The cause of the unborn would be so blessed if we could receive a few of the larger gift amounts I mentioned above. But every dollar helps change hearts and save lives.
At Christmastime, we are reminded that He came that all might have life. My wish is for you and your loved ones to have a most blessed Christmas and New Year. And that our work to protect unborn babies continues to succeed in the coming year.
May God continue to richly bless you and your loved ones for all your work on behalf of His most defenseless children.
P.S. 2024 is shaping up to be a crucial year for National Right to Life and for the unborn babies you and I work to protect. Your donation is critical to our success. I pray you’ll consider making a maximum contribution today to ensure our success in the coming year! God bless you for all you do!
