Olympic Champion Announces New Baby, Adds She’s Open to Adopting in the Future

Gymnastics 2008 Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson East delighted her fans with the announcement of an exciting development on social media. The couple is expecting their third child.

The couple, who have already had two children, a daughter named Drew and a son named Jett, have experienced various challenges during their journey of parenthood. In a recent episode of their podcast, “Couple Things,” Shawn disclosed that they had experienced a miscarriage prior to the conception of their first child. They suspect that they may have experienced another miscarriage between Jett and the new baby, who is due in December.

The announcement of the pregnancy was not accompanied by any elaborate fanfare; instead, it was a typical, everyday occurrence.

In an interview with People, Shawn stated, “I was experiencing some unusual physical symptoms and decided to take a pregnancy test.” The circumstances were not romantic or extraordinary, as might be depicted in a YouTube video. I informed my husband of the result of the test within three minutes. Immediately, Andrew exhibited a high level of enthusiasm.

In their Facebook video announcing their pregnancy, Andrew expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Baby #3 is on the way!” “Let’s proceed!” He proceeded to state that he was the most enthusiastic of the two. Children are a source of great joy. It is somewhat surprising that this was not foreseen.

Furthermore, Shawn observed that the subject in question has a strong affinity for infants. He is an exemplary father and is highly enthusiastic about the impending arrival of his child. “I must admit that I am the more anxious of the two, and I am simply hoping that everything will proceed smoothly.”

In the same podcast episode, the couple discussed the possibility that this might be Shawn’s last pregnancy. Standing just 4 feet 11 inches tall, she humorously explained that Andrew gives her “very big babies that take a very big toll” on her body. Both Drew and Jett weighed over 9 pounds at birth.

“Furthermore, should we desire to have additional children in the future, I am disinclined to do so.” However, Shawn indicated his willingness to consider adoption as an alternative.
