The 2023 NRLC Essay contest is complete and the winners have been selected. The winning Senior division essays will run Wednesday through Friday this week in NRL News Today. The Junior division winners will be announced next week.
Each contestant was asked to write an essay of 500 or fewer words on the simple but fundamental question of “Why are you pro-life?”
The annual contest has two divisions – Junior and Senior – and each has three top winners: first, second and third place.
The three Senior division winners are as follows:
Senior Division
Elizabeth B. — MN
Joshua K. — RI
Sarah F. — PA
The essays that came back covered a myriad of topics. The passion and eloquence these young people expressed in their pro-life views was very encouraging. By all accounts, the judges, who volunteer their time, felt that the overall quality of the essays was excellent this year.
The 2024 Pro-Life Essay Contest will again address “Why are you pro-life?” The Senior Division is for grades 10 – 12 while the Junior Division is for student in grades 7 – 9. Essays should be submitted between December 20, 2023 and January 22, 2024. All essays for the 2024 contest must be postmarked by January 22, 2024.
The Pro-Life Essay Contest is part of a number of programs from the National Right to Life Committee that are molding and empowering the future leaders of the pro-life movement. Those include the NRL Academy, NRLC Internships, the NRLC Oratory Contest, the Video Contest, and a host of pro-life leadership camps that are held by state and local NRLC affiliates.
We want to thank all of the contestants and their respective teachers and schools for being a part of the 2023 National Right to Life Essay Contest.
