We have just received confirmation that Governor Baker has vetoed $1 million of taxpayer money, which our legislators voted to use to disparage the pregnancy resource centers of our state. The governor’s rationale for the veto is as follows: “I am striking language that earmarks funding for a program not recommended.”
We are pleased to announce that our efforts have been successful. Your calls and emails made a significant impact, and this outcome is a testament to the power of collective action. This is a pro-life victory, and we must acknowledge it. As a result of your efforts, women and men experiencing a crisis during pregnancy will continue to have access to numerous organizations throughout the Commonwealth that provide life-affirming support during this challenging period, which may also result in the saving of children’s lives.
We would like to express my gratitude to all those who participated in this initiative. Tonight, we have taken a significant step towards a culture that values life. I would urge you to contact the governor once more to express your gratitude for his willingness to listen and act with courage.
