WASHINGTON— National Right to Life announced its endorsement of Brian Kemp for re-election as governor of Georgia.
“National Right to Life is pleased to endorse Brian Kemp for re-election as governor of Georgia,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Governor Kemp should be commended for the heartfelt conviction and steadfast leadership he demonstrated on behalf of vulnerable unborn babies and their mothers in Georgia.”
Governor Kemp signed groundbreaking legislation extending legal protection to unborn babies when their heartbeats can be detected. Advancements in science and medical technology have shown that unborn babies have beating hearts, their own unique DNA, detectable brain waves, the ability to dream, and they can experience pain. In addition to protecting young lives from abortion, the Georgia heartbeat legislation has had an important educational impact by shining a light on the humanity of the child in the womb.
Governor Kemp also advanced policies aimed at providing pregnant women with the resources and support they need to make life-affirming decisions. Under Kemp’s leadership, the Department of Revenue updated its guidance to allow mothers to claim their unborn children as dependents on their tax returns.
In contrast, his Democrat opponent Stacey Abrams supports a policy of abortion on demand for any reason until birth. Abrams also supports using Georgia tax dollars to pay for abortions.
“The contrast in the Georgia Governor’s race could not be starker. Governor Kemp is achieving true progress by expanding protections for unborn children and their mothers while Stacey Abrams vows to make Georgia a haven for abortion on demand with Georgians footing the bill,” said Tobias. “Georgia voters who oppose the radical Stacey Abrams abortion agenda should unite behind and vote to re-elect Brian Kemp.”
