The Usual: Planned Parenthood brags how much it will spend on November’s mid-term elections

By Dave Andrusko

Every election cycle finds Planned Parenthood bragging how much money it will spend to crush pro-lifers. Today’s chest-thumping comes courtesy of the Associated Press and Brian Slodysko.

His lead paragraphs:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Planned Parenthood, the nation’s leading reproductive health care provider and abortion rights advocacy organization, plans to spend a record $50 million ahead of November’s midterm elections, pouring money into contests where access to abortion will be on the ballot.

The effort, which breaks the group’s previous $45 million spending record set in 2020, comes months after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 case that created a constitutional right to have an abortion. It will be waged by the organization’s political and advocacy arms and will focus on governor’s offices, U.S. Senate seats and legislative races in nine states where abortion rights could be restricted or expanded depending on the outcome at the ballot.

Jenny Lawson, the executive director of Planned Parenthood Votes, told Slodysko, “When people go to vote this November, nearly half of the folks voting could be living in a state that either has already banned abortion or is quickly moving to ban abortion. These are entirely new circumstances.” She added, “There are a lot of issues people care about, certainly, but the state of abortion access is absolutely one of the defining issues this November.”

Of course, pro-abortionists, such as Planned Parenthood Votes, NARAL, and EMILY’s List never lack for money.  They need wheel barrels to unload the haul. While we have been wildly outspent in every election, there is a reason National Right to Life Victory Fund and the National Right to Life PAC have prevailed over and over again.

As NRL Political Director Karen Cross wrote, “The pro-abortion position is the one that is extreme and the one that is out-of-touch with American voters. A 2022 Marist Poll found that 71% of Americans support some limits on abortion, 54% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, and an astounding 81% believe that laws can protect both mother and child. A Wall Street Journal poll found 48% support protecting unborn children at 15 weeks, which was the measure at the center of the Dobbs case, versus 43% who oppose.”

In contrast to Planned Parenthood Votes, we don’t brag about our work for pro-life candidates. Suffice it to say, National Right to Life will be widely involved in every possible way to alert the public as to who the pro-life candidate is. Everything from social media, to mail, to radio spots, to phone calls—all this and much more.

Our Movement produced Dobbs, the Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. We will not rest until every child is welcomed in life and protected in law.
