Rejoice in Christmas and again I say rejoice

Carol Tobias,  President

In my column for the December issue of NRL News, I wrote that pro-lifers are thinking this is “the most wonderful time of the year”– for more reasons than just Christmas!

There is a real possibility the courts will make major changes to abortion law in the coming year.  We hope and pray that they go so far as to overturn Roe v Wade, returning the abortion decision to the states.

So, as we celebrate Christmas, our minds are already jumping ahead to the new year, eagerly awaiting the possibilities and making plans for what could be.

But for now… let’s rejoice in Christmas.  This is the time to enjoy the once-a-year events that come around Christmas– tree lightings, parades, caroling, Christmas cookies, school programs, concerts with beautiful Christmas music, and much more.

It’s also a time to reconnect with family and friends.  Because of school Christmas breaks, grandkids get to see grandparents, and we make an extra effort to spend time with friends we haven’t seen in a while.

Remember the reason for the season– the birth of Jesus Christ.  Use these days to reflect on God’s love for us and to enjoy special time with loved ones.  2022 and all its endless possibilities, and challenges, will come soon enough.

May God be with you as you celebrate the birth of His son, and may the coming year be the most amazing pro-life year yet!
