You have heard it said over and over that “elections have consequences,” but you may not believe it. Well, let me tell you it is absolutely true here in Virginia!
Never more so than this year. That is why Virginia Society for Human Life is providing you with all the information you need to vote pro-life on Tuesday, November 2nd, starting with the contest between pro-life Glenn Youngkin and pro-abortion Terry McAuliffe for governor.
For two years under radically pro-abortion Governor Ralph Northam and pro-abortion majority in our General Assembly, Virginians watched as pro-life laws, that it took years to pass, were methodically stripped away overnight. The celebrations led by pro-abortion legislators as the laws fell, were disheartening to say the least.
Protective laws that gave women the vital information they needed about their unborn babies before having an abortion were tossed out by those same legislators who were backed by the abortion industry in Virginia, including Planned Parenthood and NARAL.
The pro-abortion majority in the House of Delegates and the Senate dismantled every rational protection that women had from the manipulation and lies of abortionists. These included clinic regulations and the requirement that only licensed doctors be allowed to perform abortions. Their new rules even allow deadly chemical abortion drugs to be prescribed by nurse practitioners and sent through the mail!
That is why I say these elections matter as none before for unborn children in Virginia. If the pro-abortion majority is allowed to hold onto their power in the General Assembly House of Delegates this year, there is absolutely no doubt that the last pro-life laws we have on the books, the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban and the Parent’s Right to Know law (which requires that parents) must consent before a minor daughter can have an abortion) will both be dismantled.
What’s more terrifying for pro-lifers is that the same pro-abortion leadership will push forward their plan to have a “Right to Abortion Amendment” added to the Virginia Constitution. An amendment like this will immediately invalidate any remaining pro-life law, prevent any new laws from being passed and require that our taxes be used to fund all abortions under state-run health care plans and programs. Amendments like this have already had a chilling effect on pro-life legislation in other states, including New York and Vermont.
So you see, we must step up for the unborn and vote! You must get out and vote on Tuesday, November 2nd. Life is literally on the line!
To win back a pro-life majority we must again 6 seats and not lose any incumbents.
Your votes can help make that happen! There are extremely clear differences between all the candidates not only running for Governor, but also Lt. Governor—pro-life Winsome Sears versus pro-abortion Delegate Hala Ayala –and Attorney General—pro-life Jason Miyares versus pro-abortion Mark Herring– and the entire House of Delegates. You can get more information on VSHL’s website and see a voter guide there. If you have already voted, I hope you voted pro-life, and thank you.
If you haven’t yet. I urge you to take your civic duty very seriously this year. Get out and Vote Pro-life this Tuesday. As the polls have suggested this election is a nail biter, so the pro-life vote will make all the difference! We must do our best because the little ones are counting on us!
