National Right to Life is sharply criticizing the extreme pro-abortion position of Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia Governor’s race.
“Terry McAuliffe supports an extreme pro-abortion agenda, including abortion for any reason through all nine months of pregnancy and using taxpayer dollars to fund abortions,” said Carol Tobias, President of National Right to Life. “During his term as governor, McAuliffe sided with the profit-driven abortion industry and left thousands of unborn Virginians and their mothers at risk.”
National Right to Life pointed out that Terry McAuliffe supported controversial legislation introduced by Delegate Kathy Tran that would have expanded abortion for any reason through all nine months of pregnancy. The legislation would have even opened the door for infants who survive botched abortions to be denied appropriate medical care and left to die.
Terry McAuliffe also vowed to veto Virginia’s Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would protect unborn babies at 20 weeks, a point by which they are capable of experiencing great pain when being killed by dismemberment or other late abortion methods. In fact, he described himself as a “brick wall” to “any and all” attempts to protect the unborn and their mothers.
According to 2021 Marist polling, just 15% of Americans agree with McAuliffe’s abortion-without-limits position. Nearly 60% of Americans in the same poll said they oppose using tax dollars to pay for abortions.
“Virginians are tired of the extreme pro-abortion agenda coming out of Richmond. Terry McAuliffe’s position is drastically outside of the mainstream,” Tobias added. “A vote for Terry McAuliffe is a vote for abortion-on-demand with the bill footed by taxpayers.”
