Governor DeWine Signs Executive Order on Ohio’s Unborn Child Dignity Act

COLUMBUS, Ohio—On April 5,  Gov. Mike DeWine issued an executive order regarding the emergency adoption of rules by the Ohio Department of Health for S.B. 27, the Unborn Child Dignity Act.

Gov. DeWine signed the Unborn Child Dignity Act into law on December 30, 2020, and it was set to go into effect on April 6, 2021.

This action was in response to a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood that alleged  they could not comply with the law’s requirements because the Ohio Department of Health had not  yet established rules.

“Ohio Right to Life is proud that Governor DeWine has once again stepped up to protect the dignity of those babies tragically killed by abortion,” said Mike Gonidakis, President of Ohio Right to Life. “No baby’s broken body should be thrown into the trash. In Ohio, we bury our dead.

“Gov. DeWine’s unwavering commitment to hold Planned Parenthood accountable brings us one step closer towards ensuring the dignity of every precious and irreplaceable human life,” Gonidakis said.
