Open Letter to a Pregnant Woman During the Coronavirus Crisis

As I traversed the frozen food section of the supermarket aisle, I observed your presence. Despite the dearth of available products, you appeared to be in a cheerful mood, engaged in conversation with the man accompanying you.

You discovered the sole remaining brand of frozen pizza and placed it in your cart. In that moment, when the world seemed to be going a bit mad, you were the epitome of heroism.

I commend you for your fortitude and resilience in the face of these challenging circumstances. I commend you for your courageous efforts to persevere in the face of significant challenges, including those that arise from both tangible and intangible sources of anxiety. I am grateful for the exemplary demonstration of resilience and optimism in the face of adversity and uncertainty that you are providing.

The act of showing love to one’s infant is initiated long before the infant takes its first breath. You are courageously charting a course for your son or daughter. You have embraced life and all its potential, both wonderful and amazing.

I would like to express my gratitude for the sense of optimism that you instilled in that grocery store simply by your presence. I offered a silent prayer for you and your unborn child, and I felt that I was not alone in doing so.

Your unwavering commitment to the next generation is a source of inspiration and pride. In times of uncertainty and instability, your presence offers a sense of comfort and stability, qualities that may be in short supply in the current environment.

May you and your family be richly blessed and kept safe from harm during this pandemic. You are bearing the most invaluable of gifts—a human being who must be cherished, particularly in the context of the current circumstances.
