By Olivia Gans Turner, President, Virginia Society for Human Life (VSHL)
This year’s VSHL Camp Joshua 2019 is over and was another great success. The campers had fun, made friends, heard interesting speakers on a range of topics and began their training to become the pro-life leaders of the future. The comments from one camper sum up many of the thoughts and feelings expressed by attendees to the Camp coordinators:
“I was really touched by my Camp Joshua experience this past weekend. All the talks were wonderful and full of essential information regarding the Pro-life movement. Along with the amazing speakers, the camp was filled with wonderful (people) who love humans at all stages of life, many of which became my friends instantly and those friendships will certainly continue. Overall, Camp Joshua was a truly joyous and fruitful experience and I am already excited to come back next year, and maybe bring a couple of my siblings and friends. Thank you to all who made the camp possible.” D. from Prince William County
Thank you to all the volunteers and our speakers who helped make this Camp Joshua run so well.
Next Up
There is always something we need to do to protect babies. Next up is the 2019 General Assembly elections. The entire State Senate and House of Delegates is up for election. It is very important that pro-lifers turn out and vote.
We need to remember the outrageous comments by Governor Ralph Northam, Delegate Kathy Tran and other radical pro-abortion activists. The best way to defeat their pro-abortion legislation next General Assembly session is to make sure pro-lifers turn up to vote and make their voices heard.
We need to make sure pro-lifers are registered to vote and then vote either by absentee or in person in this fall’s vital legislative elections.
You will be hearing a lot more from VSHL about these important elections over the next few months. We will be sharing comparison information to help educate voters as to the positions candidates hold on issues of importance to pro-life voters that you can share with family, friends, at your church and other gatherings of pro-lifers. Your help will be vital in spreading the word and ensuring that pro-lifers turn out to vote.
Remember, we only defeated the pro-abortion ERA in the House of Delegates by a tie vote of 50-50. We need more pro-life voices in the General Assembly. Please make sure to follow our Facebook page and watch your email box for important information we will be sharing about the elections.
Again, I was so pleased to have just concluded another Camp Joshua but as always, we are on to the next important pro-life activity.
