“Making the Case”… Against Planned Parenthood

By Carol Tobias, President

“Issues, Etc.” is, as its Facebook page describes, a live theological talk show from a confessional Lutheran perspective. The show features expert guests in theology, Biblical interpretation, apologetics, ethics, philosophy, law and culture.

Last week, I had the honor of speaking at the 7th annual “Making the Case” conference hosted by “Issues, Etc.” The event, held on the campus of Concordia University Chicago, located just outside Chicago in River Forest, Illinois, gathered several hundred attendees from around the country.

My task was “Making the Case Against Planned Parenthood.” Author and bioethicist Wesley J. Smith, a frequent speaker at National Right to Life conventions, was also there, “Making the Case for the Hippocratic Oath.”

Several of those present shared comments like, “I can’t believe there are still people who don’t know Planned Parenthood performs abortions!” or “I was so repulsed by those (undercover) videos. How can they not see what they’re doing to little babies?”

And several encouraged me to keep the fight for Life going. I assured them that we (you and I) will do just that.

Produced by Lutheran Public Radio, “Issues, Etc.” is heard live weekdays 3-5 pm Central on its website, www.issuesetc.org and on KFUO Radio in St. Louis. The Rev. Todd Wilken, who MCed the conference, has hosted “Issues, Etc.” going all the way back 1998. He serves as assistant Pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt, Illinois.

I am always encouraged when I travel this great country, meeting dedicated pro-lifers from all walks of life. I leave every event convinced, more than ever, that we are winning.
