Ohio Right to Life is reporting that earlier today Ohio Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) provided sponsor testimony on legislation to de-fund Planned Parenthood in an appearance before the Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee.
Carrying 15 co-sponsors, Senate Bill 214 responds to the ten undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress which show high-ranking Planned Parenthood officials haggling over the price of baby body parts and how best to secure intact livers and hearts and kidneys and tracheas and hearts and brains.
“After viewing these videos, it was sickening for me to know that this organization,” Faber said, “is also partially funded by the taxpayers of the State of Ohio.”
Proponent testimonies were provided by Stephanie Ranade Krider, executive director of Ohio Right to Life; Anna Higgins, associate scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute; Elizabeth Vandergriff of Greater Cincinnati Young Adults for Life; and Paul Coudron, executive director of Dayton Right to Life.
“As Planned Parenthood officials discuss how to ‘crush’ a child’s body to harvest her brains and heart, our human decency demands that we stop the crushing,” said Krider.
“It is the public policy of the state of Ohio to prefer childbirth over abortion,” she added. “Ohio Right to Life asks that the State of Ohio honor this policy and leave the abortion business once and for all.”
