No wonder President Obama prefers going overseas. The latest McClatchy-Marist poll has his disapproval rating at 53%, “the worst disapproval ratings for President Barack Obama since he took office nearly five years ago,” according to McClatchy’s David Lightman.

“Obama in recent weeks has been battered by turmoil over his health care program,” Lightman noted. “The highly touted website where people could sign up for coverage proved to be a dysfunctional embarrassment, and Obama had to backtrack from his assertion that people could keep their plans if they wanted.”

Obamapoll1213Not unexpectedly, Obama still had strong support among Democrats (77%) and virtually no support from Republicans (8%). The true bellwether were Independents who disapproved of President Obama by 56% to 41%

The President’s personal approval numbers took another hit in this survey of 1,173 adults. The 52% unfavorable impression (to 46% favorable impression) was his worst ever.
