Pro-lifers in Minnesota have reason to be hopeful following the 2012 General Election. Even though pro-abortion U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar was re-elected and pro-life U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack was replaced with pro-abortion Rick Nolan, the Minnesota Legislature retained a majority of pro-life lawmakers.
The State House of Representatives reflects the strong pro-life convictions of the vast majority of Minnesota citizens. Control switched from one party to the other, but a majority of state representatives elected on Nov. 6 are pro-life. In the state Senate, the margins are closer.
Belief in the dignity of human life from conception to natural death is not a partisan issue. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle hold these convictions and are expected to vote for measures to protect life.
