LIFE FEST FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES INTERNATIONAL FILM COMPETITION

5×5 for Life Challenge Encourages Students & Independent Filmmakers Alike

LOS ANGELES – Today, organizers of the Life Fest Film Festival announced details and open registration for the 5×5 for Life Filmmakers Challenge, an international competition calling on students and independent filmmakers to produce a five-minute short film reinforcing the profound significance of every human life. Winning entries will be screened during the Life Fest Film Festival May 5-6, 2012 in Los Angeles and winning filmmakers will have the opportunity to network with some of Hollywood’s leading insiders.

“We’re doing something that has never been done before,” said Brian Johnston, president of the Life Fest Film Festival. “Life Fest is on the cutting edge of encouraging and nurturing new film talent while sending a fundamental message to our society: every life matters.  The 5×5 for Life Filmmakers Challenge will give aspiring filmmakers – regardless of where they are in the world – the chance to showcase their talents in front of some of the most established producers and directors in Hollywood.”

Participants will have a five-day window beginning Friday, April 6, 2012, in which to write, shoot, film, and edit a short film (3-5 minutes). At the start of the competition, each team will be given a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue that must appear in the film.  All films must be submitted by April 11 at 11:59pm PDT.  Finalists will be announced April 18, and in addition to awards in various categories, the ten best films will be screened during the Life Fest Film Festival in May. Winning teams will also be invited to Los Angeles to take part in Festival.
