A new chapter on a story we’ve run previously. The pro-life organization Life Always sent out a statement today that it will be running a new pro-life billboard on Chicago’s South side featuring a resemblance of an unlikely figure: pro-abortion President Barack Obama. Prior to his election in 2008, Obama was first a state Senator and then a United States Senator from Illinois.
Life Always writes that tomorrow at 11:00 am it will unveil a billboard that reads, “Every 21 minutes, our next possible leader is aborted,” with a drawing of Obama’s face. The first location is 5812 S. State Street.
“Our future leaders are being aborted at an alarming rate,” Life Always Board Member Reverend Derek McCoy said in a statement. “These are babies who could grow to be the future Presidents of the United States, or the next Oprah Winfrey, Denzel Washington or Maya Angelou.”
You probably remember Life Always ran a New York billboard, which read “The most dangerous place for an African-American is in the womb,” in the Soho area of New York City.
Under pressure the advertising agency pulled the ad, a blatant act of censorship (www.nrlc.org/News_and_Views/Feb11/nv022511.html). The ad has special relevance in New York City. According to the New York City Department of Health, in 2009 almost exactly 60% of African- American babies were aborted. In other words in, three African-American babies were aborted for every two live births in NYC.
Life Always’ statement says that in coming weeks, 30 billboards featuring President Obama and the pro-life message will be placed on the South Side of Chicago.
This is not the first time what could have happened to President Obama has been highlighted by pro-lifers. You may remember the remarkable ad rejected by various media outlets produced by CatholicVote.com. If you go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2CaBR3z85c, you can still see it.
The visual backdrop is of a young unborn child in his mother’s womb. The text that we read is as follows:
“The child’s future is a broken home.
He will be abandoned by his father.
His single mother will struggle to raise him.
Despite the hardships he will endure, this child will become the first African American President.”
The tag line is, “Life: Imagine the Potential.”
