Their own extremism exposed, pro-abortion Democrats hear President Trump lambast Va. Gov. Northam and call for protection of pain-capable unborn children

Pro-abortion Virginia state Rep. Kathy Tran

You would expect—how could you not expect?—pro-abortion Democrats to sit on their hands last night when pro-life President Donald Trump properly torched embattled Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam for his nonchalant embrace of infanticide and called on Congress to “pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother’s womb.”

Talk about the Democrats going over to the dark side. When we first talked about Democrats being “The Party of Death,” even I did not think we would come this quickly to the juncture where in protecting abortion until birth it would spill over to Northam assuring a radio audience that late, late, late abortions are fine and that whether a baby who survives an abortion is resuscitated is up to the mother and the abortionist.

Olivia Gans Turner is the president of the Virginia Society for Human Life (VSHL). We talked about the video clip of pro-abortion Va. state Del. Kathy Tran agreeing with subcommittee chair Del. Todd Gilbert that her (for now defeated) “Repeal Act” would allow abortion “all the way up to 40 weeks.”

I mentioned to her that one Washington Post reporter pulled the anti-David Daleiden trick out of his bag by alluding to an “edited” video.

I asked Olivia, was there anything to this? Had the meaning of Tran’s comments been altered? Olivia responded, “It’s actually even worse than the short clip shows.”

Worse? Yes! Here is it:

Gilbert: How late in a pregnancy would your bill allow a physician who is simply willing to certify that the continuation of a pregnancy would impair the mental health of a woman—how late are we talking about?

Tran: ….In the 3rd trimester, with the certification of the physician.

Gilbert: How late in the third trimester could you be able to do that? … how late in the third trimester could a physician perform an abortion if he indicated it [continuing the pregnancy] would impair the mental health of the woman? …

Tran: Through the third trimester. The third trimester goes all the way up to 40 weeks.

Gilbert: To the end of the third trimester? …

[Tran’s response is unclear, at least to me, on the audio but elsewhere she says yes.]

Gilbert: Where it’s obvious a woman is about to give birth, she has physical signs that she is about to give birth. Would that be a point at which she could still request an abortion if she was so certified [by an abortionist]? …She’s dilating.

Tran: [Pause] Mr. Chairman that would be a decision that the doctor, the physician, and the woman would make at that point.

Gilbert: I understand that. I’m asking if your bill allows that.

Tran: My bill would allow that, yes.

As Feminists for Life pointed out years ago, the early suffragists were strongly pro-life. So how bitterly ironic that pro-abortion female Democrats all wore white last night to “honor” the suffragists.

Honor them? No, they besmirch what they stood for which was that the rights of women and their unborn children are inextricably intertwined.
