6th Circuit Court of Appeals Vacates Original Ruling, Will Re-Hear Planned Parenthood Case

Ohio Right to Life initiative to de-fund Planned Parenthood given second change in court

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Today, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals vacated the decision made by a three judge panel which ruled that the state of Ohio could not de-fund Planned Parenthood.

Attorney General Mike DeWine requested an en banc review by the entire Court, and today that was granted. The case is the result of a law signed by Gov. John Kasich in February 2016.

“This decision by the Sixth Circuit is absolutely crucial in the fight to de-fund Planned Parenthood,” said Mike Gonidakis, President of Ohio Right to Life. “Ohio’s pro-life taxpayers should not be forced to fund an organization that makes a profit off of the pain of women and their unborn babies. The decision to further review this law is a huge win for protecting Ohioans’ pro-life conscience rights. No corporation, and especially not Planned Parenthood, has a right to Ohioan’s hard-earned tax dollars.”

Gonidakis concluded, “We are thankful for Attorney General DeWine who has consistently enforced and defended our pro-life laws!”
