Hailey Bieber, 26-year-old model and wife of singer Justin Bieber, recently took to Instagram to promote abortion giant Planned Parenthood despite her family’s pro-life beliefs.
The American model posted a video on her Instagram story wearing a t-shirt that read “I’m for Planned Parenthood”. She appears alongside US comedian Chelsea Handler, who has previously used her influence to campaign against legal protection for unborn babies in the United States.
In Planned Parenthood’s 2021-2022 annual report, the abortion provider reveals that it ended the lives of 374,155 unborn babies by abortion.
In her video on social media, Mrs. Bieber posted that “For 107 years, Planned Parenthood has been there. From rallying in the streets for reproductive rights to being a trusted provider of sexual & reproductive health care & info – even with a critical case jeopardizing access in Texas. Proud to be in this fight with them. Join us. #ImWithPP”.
Pro-abortion views at odds with pro-life family
Particular interest has been drawn to Bieber’s comments because of the numerous pro-life statements made by her close family. Her husband, acclaimed singer Justin Bieber, made headlines in an interview for Rolling Stone magazine when he boldly stated “I really don’t believe in abortion. It’s like killing a baby”.
Hailey’s mother-in-law, Pattie Mallette, has also confidently shared her pro-life beliefs. In a rare interview, she spoke to TODAY magazine about being pregnant with Justin at 17. She shared “I couldn’t abort. I had to do my best. I had to see what I could do. And I was determined to do whatever it took”.
Mallette also acted as executive producer for the pro-life short film Crescendo, about the life of Beethoven.
As well as her husband and his family, Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin, has also spoken openly about being pro-life. In a Facebook live interview, Baldwin talks about his Christian faith arguing “You can’t be pro-choice and call yourself a follower of Jesus Christ … It’s a fact. It’s a simple common sense fact”.
Using influence to promote abortion “saddening and irresponsible”
Right To Life UK spokesperson, Catherine Robinson, said “It’s saddening and irresponsible to see celebrities using their substantial influence to promote an organisation that ends the lives of hundreds of thousands of unborn children by abortion every year”.
“Hailey Bieber chooses to use her voice to promote an abortion provider to over 50 million followers on Instagram. Many of her followers may listen to her campaigning soundbites, rather than investigating the reality of abortion and the impact it can have on women and families”.
“Hailey Bieber’s support of abortion is particularly tragic given the views of her extended family and how, without her mother-in-law’s strong pro-life beliefs, her husband may have been a victim of abortion”.
