Destroying the program that provides help and hope every day to pregnant women in difficult circumstances

By Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative Director, Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

Lawmaker after lawmaker has been voicing support for a program pro-abortion Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro has threatened to eliminate.

Pennsylvania’s Pregnancy and Parenting Support Services program, ably run by Real Alternatives, has successfully served more than 350,000 women in its impressive 27-year history.

But in a decision that only makes sense in the context of pro-abortion politics, the Governor wants to destroy the program that provides help and hope every day to pregnant women in difficult circumstances.

Meanwhile, thousands of Pennsylvanians have been flooding email inboxes and phone lines, calling for a rescue of the program, which has become a model for the rest of the nation. In fact, 17 states have Real Alternatives-like programs which have been a godsend to women and families.

There is speculation that the Governor really doesn’t understand what the program is all about. That is why it is incumbent on us to let him know that the program—deemed an “essential service” during the pandemic—needs to be preserved.

Please call the Governor’s office at 717-787-2500 to show your support for Real Alternatives. You can also email him at https://www.governor.pa.gov/contact/ . In addition, text him at 717-788-8990.

And, if you have not already done so, if you are a Pennsylvania resident, please contact your state lawmakers through the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation website at www.paprolife.org .

We need even more lawmakers on board, ready to do all they can to safeguard Real Alternatives’ funding!
