Facts 37 and 38 for the 37th and 38th weeks of development inside the womb

Weeks 37 and 38: The baby is about the size of a honeydew melon at about 6 and a half pounds…but s/he will gain half a pound a week! The child is now considered “full term” and will be out any minute.

The baby’s lungs are more than likely capable of adjusting to life outside the womb. The head is the same size as the hips, abdomen and shoulders. The baby’s immune system is continuing to develop this week, and the breast milk they will soon get will help to supply the baby with the necessary antibodies to stay healthy.

The eye color might still change after this point, due to a lack of pigment. Any moment now, the baby will soon be welcomed into the outside world! ðŸŽ‰#40weeks40facts
