WASHINGTON – Pro-Life Perspective, the official radio broadcast of the National Right to Life Committee, the federation of affiliates in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, today celebrated the airing of its 10,000th episode. First broadcast on January 6, 1985, Pro-Life Perspective has been informing listeners about the latest updates affecting the pro-life movement and motivating them to become more involved.
Originally conceived as a five-minute program hosted by then-National Right to Life President John C. Willke, M.D., and subsequently co-hosted by former National Right to Life President Wanda Franz, Ph.D. and former American Victims of Abortion Director Olivia Gans Turner, the show now broadcasts in a one-minute format hosted by current National Right to Life President Carol Tobias.
“For more than 38 years, Pro-Life Perspective has built a legacy of equipping pro-life listeners across the country with the information and tools they need to build the pro-life cause in their local communities,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life and host of Pro-Life Perspective. “Today’s milestone episode shows the importance of Pro-Life Perspective to National Right to Life’s ongoing mission of restoring a Culture of Life in America.”
In addition to providing pro-life news and information, Pro-Life Perspective has also served as a beacon of hope to women facing unexpected pregnancies. Some years ago, the producers of Pro-Life Perspective received a letter from a listener in Louisiana. In her letter, she described how a poem read on Pro-Life Perspective caused her to reconsider her options and choose life for her unborn child. She wrote: “When I first heard the poem, I was 15 years old, and pregnant with my first child. While I listened to this poem, I started crying, because I had been considering an abortion; and after the poem I couldn’t believe I could even consider such a thing.”
“With Pro-Life Perspective, National Right to Life has been touching hearts, changing minds, and saving lives for more than 38 years,” added Tobias. “It is an honor to continue building on the legacy of Dr. Jack Willke, Dr. Wanda Franz, and Olivia Gans Turner to use Pro-Life Perspective as a tool to reach more Americans with the pro-life message.”
Pro-Life Perspective currently airs on more than 140 radio stations across the country and is distributed by Ambassador Advertising. For broadcast inquiries, please contact Pro-Life Perspective producer Derrick Jones at mediarelations@nrlc.org.
