We walk, so they can run.
Last fall people from throughout my community took part in a Walk for Life to benefit a local pregnancy care center.
By pledging to walk, advocates for life are increasing the chances that children will someday be able to run, play, and enjoy life—all because their lives were saved from abortion.
Our pregnancy resource center has been assisting women and their families since 1972—before the tragic U.S. Supreme Court ruling known as Roe v. Wade was decided. This marked the first post-Roe walk in the center’s history, thanks to the Supreme Court’s June Dobbs decision to overturn Roe.
The services offered by the center are phenomenally important to the health, safety, and well-being of women. In addition to pregnancy testing and confidential counseling, the center offers ultrasound examinations, STD testing and treatment, and pregnancy education.
But the help does not end there. The facility also provides baby clothing and supplies—so crucial, especially in these recessionary times. The center also does not walk away from women who have had abortions and who now regret them. Rather, the center reaches out to those suffering from abortion trauma by offering post-abortion recovery classes.
The fall of Roe did not end the need for pregnancy care services. If anything, such services are needed now more than ever. As a pair of pregnancy center staffers recently remarked, “Roe v. Wade was overturned on June 24, and it’s our moment to shine.”
Years from now, a new generation of individuals may be taking part in a Walk for Life—thanks to those who walked before them and helped to save their lives.
The post-Roe generation is indeed on the move!
