Thank you to all who attended our State House Rally on Saturday, January 28. More photos can be seen at the RI Right to Life Facebook Page.
Taxpayer-Funding for Abortion Bills Filed
Bills have been filed in both the Rhode Island Senate (2023–S0032) and in the Rhode Island House of Representatives (2023–H5006) to legalize state taxpayer-funding for abortion-on-demand in Rhode Island, both through the state-managed Medicaid program and through state employees health benefits programs. Governor Dan McKee has allocated $621,500 in his budget to pay for these killings. We will release an action alert later this week with the full list of sponsors, 43 in the House and 21 in the Senate.
Presently it appears that pro-abortion House Leadership is fully committed to ramming this through this year. Kudos to our awesome new Senate Minority Leader for her op-ed on the matter this past weekend. I am on my way out the door right now to attend a reception in her honor. If you too would like to support Senator de la Cruz, you may do so through her campaign website.
Let’s hope and pray and insist that all of our legislators who want to call themselves pro-life will have the courage and the integrity, indeed the basic human decency, to vote against any budget that allocates even one dime for the wanton slaughter of preborn babies in Rhode Island.
Looking for State House Prayer Teams
Our first prayer team joined me last Wednesday at the State House. We now have teams for Tuesday and Wednesday. We would like to form a Thursday prayer team and increase our numbers on other days as well. This is a great opportunity to give prayerful witness while getting a bit of exercise walking through the halls of the State House. Please contact Barth at (401) 521-1860 or at bebracy@rirtl.org for details. And don’t forget that the 40 Days for Life Spring Campaign begins in just a couple of weeks on Ash Wednesday.
