Pro-abortion Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro is trying to make Pennsylvania an abortion magnet.

His latest attempt in this regard is to join with other Democratic Governors to form a pro-abortion network in the wake of last year’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

The consortium is headed by radically pro-abortion California Governor Gavin Newsom. All told, Governors in 20 states have pledged allegiance to the group. Ominously, the Chief Executives plan to share language for executive orders promoting abortion and to attempt to shield manufacturers of dangerous abortion drugs from accountability.

The initial money for the group, according to the Associated Press, is coming from The California Wellness Foundation and the Rosenberg Foundation. Organizers of the effort admit they cannot forge national policy or push pro-abortion policy across state borders.

Shapiro won the Keystone State’s Governor’s Office last year, replacing pro-abortion Democrat Tom Wolf. Even though Wolf had volunteered as an abortion center escort before his days in the Governor’s chair, Shapiro is positioning himself to be known as the most pro-abortion Governor in Pennsylvania history.

Fortunately, Pennsylvania does have a firewall against pro-abortion legislation, thanks to pro-life leadership in the Pennsylvania Senate. The Commonwealth is currently governed by the Abortion Control Act, which includes informed consent, parental consent, a 24-hour waiting period for abortions, a late-term abortion ban, and a ban on sex selection abortions.
