Happy New Year Friends! January 11, 2023, one week from now, the 2023 Virginia General Assembly session will begin. We have a lot of work to do this year.
There will be several important pro-life bills introduced, including the Governor Glenn Youngkin ’s bill to prevent abortions after an unborn baby can feel pain, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, and other bills that will provide mothers and families with more information and help when facing a complex pregnancy situation. All these bills will be met with challenges from radical pro-abortion members of the General Assembly.
Pro-Life Virginians must pay attention, be informed, and be active in their district during the 2023 General Assembly Session. You can keep up to date by making sure you and your friends are signed up to receive legislative alerts from VSHL.
One very possible threat still looms this year. A vocal group of Virginia’s pro-abortion elected officials in the General Assembly are determined to pass an amendment to the state Constitution to make unrestricted abortions legal through all nine months of pregnancy. Doing so would codify Roe v. Wade into our state law and would remove all remaining pro-life provisions in Virginia law and prevent any future pro-life laws from being passed!
Please sign the Petition on the VSHL website to stop this from happening in our beloved state!
Urgent Reminder: Three Special Elections will take place on January 10th.
Governor Youngkin has called a special election on January 10 to fill three seats, two in the House of Delegates (35th and 24th Districts) and one race in the Senate (7th District).
VSHL PAC has endorsed Ellen Campbell in the 24th House District, Monique Baroudi in the 35th House District, and Kevin Adams in the 7th Senate District. In the 24th District, Republican Campbell is running against pro-abortion Democrat Jade Harris.
If you are in any of these areas, please get out and vote. These elections are often low voter turnout, so if pro-life people get out their friends and family it can help enormously! More information on each candidate can be found at: www.vshlpac.org.
