In Remembrance: Rep. Walorski Joins Baby Box Blessing in Rochester

Editor’s note.  Congresswoman Jackie Walorski was tragically killed in a car accident yesterday. Our prayers go out to her family and to the family of two of her staffers who were also killed. A great pro-life champion, among her many passions was the Safe Haven ministry. The following is an account of one such opening.

Congresswoman Walorski and community leaders showcased the public-facing side of the Safe Haven Baby Box

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – U.S. Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) this week joined

community leaders and volunteers to bless the new Safe Haven Baby Box installed at the Rochester Fire Department. Alongside Rochester City Mayor Ted Denton, Fire Chief Thomas Butler, and Founder and CEO of Safe Haven Baby Boxes Monica Kelsey, Congresswoman Walorski helped to unveil this important community resource.

“The new Safe Haven Baby Box in Rochester is an innovative and lifesaving resource for our community.

Every child is worthy of protection and care, and I pray that this life-affirming baby box will serve as a light to women facing a crisis,” said Congresswoman Walorski. “I am grateful to Mayor Denton, Chief Butler, and all of the Hoosiers who have made this a reality, as well as our incredible first responders who are prepared to care for any child that arrives.”

In Indiana and across the country, Safe Haven Baby Boxes offer a lifeline to women in need. Equipped with advanced technology and climate control, the baby box is designed to alert first responders and protect infants placed in the bassinet until help arrives.

Last month, Congresswoman Walorski participated in the blessing of a new Safe Haven Baby Box in Plymouth.

Walorski represented the 2nd Congressional District of Indiana, serving as a member of the House Ways and Means Committee and the Ranking Member of the House Ethics Committee.
