As the members of the Class of 2022 make their way in the world, they carry with them tremendous promise and possibility.
But they also face challenging times in the wake of a pandemic and social unrest. At this moment in our nation’s history, words of wisdom can be especially helpful to weather the storm.
What follows are some key quotations I found which speak to the heart of defending the right to life. My hope is that they will
“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” –Jeremiah 1:5
“How can the dream survive if we murder the children?”—Civil rights activist Alveda King
“I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” –President Ronald Reagan
“We must build our society as it once was founded, upon respect for life and the right to life.”—LiveAction founder Lila Rose
“Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women.”—Suffragist Alice Paul
“…Together we can make it the decade when Roe is overturned. With a president committed to defending life and appointing originalist judges, we will turn the tide for life and human dignity.”—Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum
“Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb He has spoken my name.”—Isaiah 49:1
“The life movement is led by strong women, amazing faith leaders, and brave students who carry on the legacy of pioneers before us who fought to raise the conscience of our nation and uphold the rights of our citizens. You embrace mothers with care and compassion. You are powered by prayer, and motivated by pure, unselfish love.”—President Donald Trump
“When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I’ve often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God — and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there’ll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world — and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, ‘Spare him, because he loved us!’”—Congressman Henry Hyde.
