Fetal Development

This is the end of our #40weeks40facts campaign!!

Thank you to all who have followed week by week.

Once you are at weeks 39 or 40, your baby is more than ready to be delivered. But only 5% of babies are born on their due date, so this might not be the end yet!

They are likely the size of a watermelon at 6 to 8 pounds. The baby’s vision is developed enough to see around 2.5 cm. The baby might not be able to see much of your face at birth, but they will definitely recognize your voice! The skull bones are not fused together yet, which allows the bones to overlap in case there is a snug fit through the birth canal. The baby is now out and ready to see the world. Please share our #40weeks40facts posts to help others see the beauty of life from the very beginning, something we fight for each and every single day.
