Police have charged Makaylia Shaylynn Jolley, 20, a Pearl, Mississippi mother with capital murder after they allege she “repeatedly and forcibly” threw her 2-month-old daughter onto Bierdeman Road.

“After receiving multiple 911 calls, police found another woman holding little Khalysie Lashay Jolley, who was ‘severely injured,’” People magazine reported [https://people.com/crime/mississippi-mother-charged-with-murder-after-allegedly-throwing-infant-daughter-on-road]. “Makaylia reportedly fled into the nearby woods but was apprehended shortly after, the release read.”

“When the fire department and paramedics arrived, they administered first aid before taking the child to Children’s Hospital of Mississippi in Jackson, where she was listed in critical condition,”  WAPT reported [https://www.wapt.com/article/mother-accused-of-trying-to-kill-infant-daughter/39984257#]. “We shut the city of Pearl down,” Chief Dean Scott said. “She was heavily escorted, I’ll say that.”

“At this point, all we can do is say a prayer for the child,” Scott said. “The act was very deliberate and intentional. She showed no remorse throughout the day (Thursday).”

Jolley “is now facing a capital murder charge as well as underlying felony child abuse charges after Pearl officials confirmed that her daughter, Khalysie Lashay Jolley, died Saturday at 4:33 p.m. in the hospital,” WAPT reported.

According to WAPT, “Makaylia — who is allegedly ‘very familiar’ to narcotics officers in the area — is also mom to a son, who is currently in his grandmother’s care.”
