Joe Biden

CBS News poll finds American “frustrated” and “disappointed” with Biden who they believe is “distracted” and not focusing on what they care about

It seems as if every few days another survey finds President Biden’s job approval hitting new lows—or perilously close to it.

Rasmussen offers a daily presidential tracking poll and on Thursday it revealed that 39% of likely U.S. voters approved of Biden’s job performance while 59% percent disapproved. This is important because that very same morning “White House deputy chief of staff Jennifer O’Malley Dillon questioned the findings of a Quinnipiac University survey which gave Biden a 33 percent approval rating, which was three percentage points less than ex-President Donald Trump at the one-year mark,” Newsweek’s Brendan Cole reported.

It was an “outlier, Malley Dillon insisted.

Then came Rasmussen’s results—again under 40%– “Rasmussen’s lowest approval and highest disapproval rating for Biden since he took office,” Malley Dillon wrote.

On top of that, there was CBS News latest survey. In a story bylined Anthony Salvanto, Jennifer De Pinto, Fred Backus, and Kabir Khanna analyzing their poll, words like “frustrated”  “disappointed” top people’s descriptions of things, “along with the feeling that he’s [President Biden] ‘distracted’ and not focusing on what they care about.”

Specifically, they write,

“Focus” is a running theme in this story. Majorities say he isn’t paying enough attention to either the economy or inflation — together, their top issues — not just that he isn’t handling them well. Few think Mr. Biden and his fellow Democrats are focused on the right things overall, either. Even within his own party, it’s inflation where his fellow Democrats give him their lowest marks, compared to other issues.

One last thing from CBS News:

He’s still undergirded by support from Democrats but compared to the outset of his term, the decrease he’s seen has been especially pronounced among independents. Among independents who voted for him, approval has decreased by a whopping 31 points.

And young people: six in 10 voters under 30 voted for Mr. Biden In 2020, but his approval rating among Americans under 30 has dropped from 70% in February to just 42% now — double the size of the decline among other age groups.
