Reasons abound for pro-lifers to be grateful this Thanksgiving

By Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative Director, Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

I vividly recall my favorite Thanksgiving. It happened to be the last one that I celebrated with my entire immediate family. The following year, my beloved father passed away less than two weeks before the holiday.

What made that Thanksgiving truly memorable was my little daughter’s enthusiasm for the celebration and all things turkey. She literally lit up the dining room of my parents’ home with her infectious smile. It was such a joy to be able to share those precious moments with her grandparents, who loved her intensely and unreservedly.

This Thanksgiving, my family will be apart. But I still have much reason for gratitude:

*I am grateful for the pregnancy resource centers all across the country which provide comprehensive counseling and support to pregnant women in challenging circumstances.

*I express thanks to the unsung heroes of the pro-life movement—those individuals throughout the nation who march, rally, and donate on behalf of the most vulnerable among us.

*I am thankful for those medical professionals who provide compassionate care to both mother and child.

* I owe a debt of gratitude to those students who are on fire for life, using social media to champion the rights of preborn babies, their mothers, people with disabilities, and the frail elderly.

* I am eternally grateful to public servants who consistently cast their votes to protect innocent human life.

I invite you to make your own pro-life gratitude list in honor of Thanksgiving. Even in the midst of the pro-abortion agenda coming out of the White House and Congress, there is so much for us to be grateful for in 2021.
