In 1621, pilgrims to America engaged in a three-day celebration to thank God for His many blessings to them in a new land. They had come through a hard year, losing family and friends, but the harvest was plentiful, and they had a new home in which to live in freedom.
400 years later, we still set aside a special time to thank God for bringing us safely through another year. There have been losses of loved ones and many heartaches, but we recognize the loving and merciful God who has blessed us and cared for us along the way.
The pro-life movement certainly has much to be thankful for.
I thank God for our state affiliates and local chapters who work day in and day out to protect innocent human life from abortion and euthanasia. Electing pro-life candidates, passing legislation, and educating others about the humanity of the unborn child are, quite frankly, critically important to the well-bring of our nation. A country that does not care about its most vulnerable people is a country that will eventually not care about most of its people.
I thank God for the millions of pro-life individuals who speak up for the vulnerable preborn children who have no voice. It’s not an overstatement to say the pro-life movement is larger and stronger than ever before.
Between a Texas law that protects unborn children– still in effect three months after its enactment– and the Supreme Court agreeing to decide if preborn children can be protected before viability, Thanksgiving this year offers more hope and optimism than we have had in a long time.
Regardless of what happens in these cases, the pro-life movement is resolute that unborn children deserve to be protected and we will not stop until they are.
To all my fellow pro-lifers, I pray that God would continue to bless you and your loved ones. May you know joy within your heart, and peace within your spirit, that, ultimately, He is in control.
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”
