32 days until the start of the National Right to Life 2021 Convention

By Dave Andrusko

This is special.

The countdown for the National Right to Life 2021 Convention begins today. The official starting date for the two-day educational extravaganza is June 25—just 32 days!

If you are able to attend the special showing of the play “Viable,” along with a dinner, that will begin at 6:30 Thursday, June 24. You do not have to be registered for the convention to take advantage of this spectacular event.

Every NRL Convention is special, but this year’s is even more so. For one very important thing, 2021 will be our 50thconvention! That is a special landmark for the nation’s oldest and most representative single-issue pro-life organization.

For another, like so many others’, COVID took out our 2020 national convention. NRL in general, but Convention Director Jacki Ragan in particular, has worked–to make this year’s–commemorative gathering possible.

And it will happen!

And we want you and your family and friends to attend the convention which will be held at the Hilton Washington Dulles hotel in Herndon, Virginia, near Dulles Airport.

The 7:30 am Prayer Breakfast convention officially opens the convention on Friday morning, June 25. The Reverend Dr. Gregory P. Seltz, Executive Director of the Lutheran Center for Religious Liberty in Washington, D.C. will be our featured speaker.

You will want to be there. It has been said of Rev. Seltz that “His experience as a pastor, …a professor …and as ‘Lutheran Hour’ speaker has given him extensive exposure to the cultural and social realities that shape American culture.”

Tickets are $35 each. Anyone and everyone who has attended NRL conventions will assure you that the Prayer Breakfast is always a favorite event.

In Friday morning’s General Session, a panel of experts will discuss a multitude of crucial political and legal issues, including the Mississippi abortion case the Supreme Court has agreed to hear this fall. James Bopp, Jr., J.D. General Counsel for National Right to Life, will address the question, “Is this Case the First Step to Overturning Roe?”

This session will open with Jennifer Popik, J.D., NRL Federal Legislative Director, who will celebrate all of the wonderful, new, strong, vocal, and committed pro-life women that are now in the House of Representatives. Just a sampling of what is to continue in 2022!

Next, NRLC President Carol Tobias will take the podium to talk about how the Left is both shouting that the sky is falling and making a major push to expand abortion. Then, David N. O’Steen, Ph.D., NRL’s Executive Director will congratulate the audience and all pro-lifers for all the hard work and election work that made it possible for the Trump administration to seat three Supreme Court Justices. Finally, Mr. Bopp will outline the ins and outs and whys and why nots of whether the Mississippi abortion case is the first step in overturning Roe v Wade.

On Friday evening, author, global speaker, and EWTN show host Patricia Sandoval will be our guest. Her testimony is a tremendous story of hope for this generation.

Maria V. Gallagher wrote about this remarkable woman for NRL News. As Maria wrote, Patricia’s “powerful testimony is contained in the book Transfigured, a story of redemption following the profound despair of working in the abortion industry.”

Eventually she found her way to a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat, which brought her to a place of healing and hope. The title of her Friday evening session is, appropriately, “Relentless.”

Day Two–Saturday morning, June 26– begins at 9 am with one of our favorite speakers, Wesley J. Smith, J.D., author, and one of the very few pro-life bioethicists. The title of his session is “There’s No Such Thing as ‘Just a Little’ Euthanasia,” an allusion to all the phony “safeguards” proponents pretend to offer.

Wesley has written numerous books, several of them reviewed at NRL News, includingCulture of Death: The Assault on Medical Ethics in America.” In addition he has published hundreds of articles and opinion columns nationally and internationally on issues such as the importance of being human (human exceptionalism), assisted suicide, bioethics, the [im]morality of human cloning, legal ethics, medical ethics, and public affairs.

You will not want to miss this!

All in all, we have the Dinner Theater featuring “Viable,” the Prayer Breakfast, four General Sessions, a closing Saturday night Banquet, and 54 workshops on all the topics of interest to pro-lifers. In addition there is a separate National Right to Life Teens convention, Pro-Life Exhibits, and Childcare so your children have a great time while you are equipping yourself to go spread the word and the knowledge you have learned in your own city and state.

Stay tuned. And there will be still more.  To keep on top of what to expect and to register, visit www.nrlconvention.com  for the latest information!

We really hope to see you in Herndon, Virginia in just 32 days.
