Pennsylvania 10 is classic pro-life/pro-abortion contest

By Maria V. Gallagher, Legislative/PAC Director, Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation

The race to represent Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional district is one of the most closely watched political contests in the nation.

Veteran pro-life Republican Congressman Scott Perry is facing a challenge from pro-abortion Democrat Eugene DePasquale.

The contrasts between the two candidates on the life issues could not be clearer. According to National Right to Life, Congressman Perry opposes the current U.S. policy of abortion on demand. He supports protective laws to safeguard the lives of preborn children.

Congressman Perry has voted consistently against using our hard-earned tax dollars to pay for abortion. He opposes federal funding of abortion operations. He also voted to stop the brutal practice of late-term abortions—abortions in which preborn babies can feel pain, according to scientific research.

In sharp contrast, DePasquale supports abortion for any reason or no reason, even in the latter stages of pregnancy. He also supports using tax dollars to pay for abortions—a practice decried by the vast majority of taxpayers, according to public opinion polls. He is also endorsed by the nation’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, which performed more than 345,000 abortions in a single year, according to its own annual report.

Pro-abortion forces are pouring great sums of cash into Pennsylvania in the hope of unseating pro-life incumbents, not only in Congress, but in the state legislature as well. But their abortion-at-all-costs mentality is extreme, and is not in line with the beliefs of the mainstream of Pennsylvania voters.
