On The View Monday, the hosts argued over President Trump moving to fill Justice Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court and took issue with Judge Amy Coney Barrett making the list of possible picks. But co-host Meghan McCain slammed her co-hosts and the left’s attempt to smear Barrett for her Catholic faith as she passionately argued about the importance of the abortion issue, even saying it may motivate pro-lifers who wouldn’t vote for Trump to do so now.
The show opened with the liberal hosts boasting they cried at the news of Ginsburg’s passing (which seems to be a trend among virtue signaling journalists today) and then raging at Republicans looking to fill her seat before the election. Joy Behar claimed Republicans were too contemptible to even speak to anymore: “They are so beneath any kind of shamelessness that it’s impossible to even talk to these people!” she fumed.
But McCain pointed out to her co-hosts that the stakes were just as high on the right and seeing how the left smeared Kavanaugh had “radicalized” Republicans like her on the importance of the Supreme Court picks:
[I] honestly think because I have been talking about this all weekend that Kavanaugh changed the game for a lot of Republicans, myself included. I was completely radicalized by the experience of watching him testify. I mean, there were accusations of him being part of a gang rape gang, and accusations that were completely baseless, and it has shown that Democrats on their side will do anything and everything to smear any conservative. Amy Coney Barrett is a hard core Catholic. Among other things, she has seven children. I completely expect her to be — if she is the nominee, to be slandered and maimed in a way we’ve never seen before…
McCain even added this could move some people to vote for Trump that wouldn’t have before: “If you are pro-life, like I am and 47% of the country is, it has become a reason to support President Trump if you were someone that was wavering.”
Joy Behar sniped that the majority of the country didn’t want to repeal Roe. Sara Haines proved her point by claiming everyone should be “scared” of Barrett because she wouldn’t be able to separate church and state.
But McCain showed how this was just slander and an attempt to “Kavanaugh” Coney Barrett for her Catholicism:
You’re already seeing her slandered–and she also said “it’s never appropriate for a judge to impose the judge’s personal convictions whether it arouse from faith or anything else in the law.” I want everyone who was talking about her Catholicism to put in being anything else: Being Muslim, being Jewish being Baptist, whatever. There seems to be a real bias against a woman who has seven children, and is Catholic and we’re seeing it. I just don’t want her to get Kavanaughed because I don’t think it’s fair.
While McCain was gone from the show during the Kavanaugh hearings due to her father’s death, Joy Behar proclaimed Kavanaugh “guilty” and Sunny Hostin gave this loony defense of Kavanaugh’s accuser so we can only expect the liberal hosts’ commentary to get much more hateful once Trump names his nominee.
