National Right to Life Endorses Senator Bill Cassidy for Re-election to the U.S. Senate from Louisiana

WASHINGTON — National Right to Life, the nation’s largest pro-life group with affiliates in all 50 states and over 3,000 local chapters nationwide, has endorsed Senator Bill Cassidy for re-election to the United States Senate from Louisiana.

“Senator Cassidy has a 100% pro-life voting record from his first term in the Senate,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “He supports compassionate proposals to safeguard unborn children and their mothers from the pain of abortion.”

“Senator Cassidy has a perfect pro-life record with National Right to Life from his six years in the United States Senate and from his time in the House of Representatives. He also served as a pro-life State Senator in Louisiana,” said Ben Clapper, executive director of Louisiana Right to Life. “As a physician, Senator Cassidy knows that abortion is not healthcare. He has stood up to the abortion industry and Planned Parenthood. We are grateful for Senator Cassidy’s pro-life commitment as he represents Louisiana, the most pro-life state in America.”

Senator Cassidy co-sponsored and voted for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This legislation would protect unborn children at 20 weeks, a point by which the unborn child is capable of experiencing great pain when being killed by dismemberment or other late abortion methods.

Senator Cassidy co-sponsored and voted for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. This Act would require that a baby born alive during an abortion be afforded the same degree of care that would apply to any other child delivered at the same gestational age.

Senator Cassidy co-sponsored and voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, and he opposes taxpayer funding of abortion providers.

In his first term, Senator Cassidy voted to confirm hundreds of federal judges to the bench who pledged to interpret the Constitution as it was written, including Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who voted this year to uphold Louisiana’s pro-life law.

By contrast, his likely Democratic opponent, Adrian Perkins, supports a policy of abortion on demand, which allows abortion for any reason.

“As a pro-life physician, Senator Bill Cassidy knows the value of each precious life, and he has worked to see that all innocent human life is protected. He is committed to strengthening a culture of life throughout the nation and in the U.S. Senate,” said Tobias. “We look forward to continuing our important work with Senator Cassidy to protect the most vulnerable members of the human family.”
